Keynsham’s Wellsway School is a thriving secondary school which consistently comes at the top of the state school academic results for miles around.
The Friends of Wellsway Parent Teacher Association is actively looking for new committee members to help fundraise for enrichment projects for the school.
“We’re facing a challenge,” explains PTA committee member Catherine Dhanjal.
“We’ve had a core of dedicated and enthusiastic members for many years, some of whom now need to step down.
“We’re actively looking for committee members as well as people who might like to take on specific roles such as chair or deputy chair.
“You don’t have to be a parent of a child at the school or a member of the teaching staff, we welcome anyone with an interest in helping provide extra equipment or opportunities to Wellsway students.”
Perhaps the PTA’s best-known activity is the very popular annual craft fair which, combined with other PTA fundraising, is a great source of monies for projects from iPads for science, to new seating for the library, laser cutters for design & technology, and specialist equipment for the drama department.
David Cooper, Vice Principal for Progress at Wellsway School, comments, “The PTA is valued enormously by the school and makes a real difference in terms of the quality and enjoyment of the education our young people experience.”
